What is Kaftan for a Cause?
A Vision:
The vision for Kaftans for a Cause came about by seeing in our community women and children affected by homelessness due to domestic violence.
A Dream:
The dream is to create kaftans with beautiful Indigenous prints and a percentage of profits will go towards community organisations that are assisting vulnerable women and children in our community affected by domestic violence and other such issues.
A Goal:
The long-term goal is to gain extraordinary sales of Kaftans for a Cause to be able to contribute funds to assist community organisations to acquire property for emergency accommodation and permanent housing for vulnerable women and children.
As statistics in 2021-22, showed around 108,000 people who experienced domestic and family violence also required support from a specialist homelessness service. Of those people, 75% were females.
Our goal is to make Balgarra Designs Kaftans for a Cause not just a beautiful garment to wear at any time to any function but to give each garment you purchase from us, a meaning.
That meaning is love…. Love is gentle, love is patient and love is kind.

Global Indigenous Runway - Ancestral Bloodlines
Balgarra Designs was fortunate enough to attend the Global Indigenous Runway event 2024, held in Melbourne as part of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Our designs showcased were our beautiful scarves, ties and accessories alongside our new Kaftan Designs: Kaftan Dress titled "Confluence" and Kaftan Dress / Top titled "Connected".
Our new line of kaftans will be available soon in large sizes for women. They are uniquely designed and lightweight with comfortable fit for casual or formal wear. Artwork designs by Joanne Cassady - Hamilton
